One of the spots head coach Hue Jackson looks to bolster on defense is at the linebacker position. On Wednesday afternoon the Raiders have acquired linebacker Aaron Curry from the Seattle Seahawks, according to a report from Fox Sports. The Raiders in exchange reportedly gave up an undisclosed pick in 2012 and an undisclosed pick in 2013. In the 2009 draft Curry was the forth overall selection, to the Seahawks out of Wake Forrest. As a senior in college he won the Butkus Award given to the top linebacker in college. Coming out of college he was a can’t miss prospect in the 2009 draft

However, he did have start slow and lost his starting role to K.J Wright. He basically did not pan out under two coaching staff’s in Seattle.

Curry  25, in his third season in the NFL did not practice with the team Wednesday and his locker was cleaned out, providing a clear indication his time in Seattle was coming to a end.

This season Curry has 22 tackles and two passes defended in the first five games of 2011.

When he was drafted ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper called Curry a “safe pick”. The question is now can Curry turn things around in Oakland and play the NFL game with the same intensity he had in college. Where for Wake Forrest as a senior he made 105 Tackles, 16 of them being for a loss.

Coach Jackson is counting on it, making his first move since the recent death this past weekend to the ledgendary Al Davis. Raiders linebacker coach Greg Biekert hopes to build Curry up and bring back to form and the intensity he had in college  to his NFL game.
